What are the periods of western music?
The periods of western music can be explained as the historical eras in which Western music passed through. This periods are divided into six and they are as follows.

PERIODS OF WESTERN MUSIC

Medieval period  ( 500 – 1400)
The renaissance period  (1400 – 1600)
Baroque period  (1600 – 1750)
Classical period (1750 – 1820)
Romantic period (1810 – 1910)
Modern period ( 1910 – till date)

The renaissance period:
Renaissance started in 1400 and ended in 1600. It is the period that started from the 14th century to the 17th century. The renaissance period is considered the bridge between the middle ages and the modern period. The renaissance period was referred to as the rebirth period because it was an era of discovery, innovation, and exploration.

SOME FEATURES OF RENAISSANCE PERIOD

1. Vocal music was the most important than instrumental music.
2. Composers wrote music to enhance the meaning and motion of the text.
3. Pitch patterns in renaissance melodies are easy to sing.
4. Music was mainly polyphonic in nature.
